Easy, Safe, Fun!Dubrovnik Croatia – Pearl of the Adriatic

I went in mid-June and it was quite crowded and hot. I am told both factors get far worse in July and August. I would like to return here, but next time will likely come in late September or early October. The biggest crowds should be gone by then and yet the sea holding it’s summer warmth for swimming pleasure. I look forward to it!
Walk the outer fortress walls
Dubrovnik is a huge walled city. And one thing you definitely must not miss is walking around the entire city on the very top of the fortress walls.
Tip #1: Go early! It opens at 8 am. You’ll have a much better chance of getting the photos you want, without having them cluttered up with images of other people taking selfies! Be prepared for lots of steps. Going early is also much cooler. It really gets hot on the walls in the direct sun.
Tip #2: Take your time. Stop and gaze and savor the amazing views from all directions. The walls take you directly through several nice cafes and snack shops that cannot be reached from the street level below. So stop and have a coffee or breakfast snack, rest your feet, enjoy the view. I took a full two hours for my walk. It really is a big city!
