But most importantly…

Over60Nomad is specifically for seniors!

There are many websites giving advice about being a long-term or perpetual traveler. However, when you read them, you’ll notice that nearly all are written by 20-something or 30-something digital nomads. They love to travel but are pretty busy trying to eek to out a living by working online in order to sustain their wanderlust.

Important Differences for Seniors

Here’s just a few important differences I’ve noticed between the wants and needs of younger travelers vs. senior travelers.

  1. Less Lugging
You’re not going to want to lug a loaded 30-40 pound backpack around like many of these “kids” do. I don’t know about you, but when my suitcase gets up over 20 lbs, I start desperately looking for what I can remove!
  2. No Income Worries
You are likely retired and getting some sort of monthly pension. Of course you still have to live within your monthly budget but overall this is great news!  None of the worry, hassle and time wasted on having to “earn a living”. It’s your golden years, so enjoy!
  3. Socializing Style
You are probably past the phase of life where wild partying, drinking and hooking up is a huge draw. Sure it’s great to socialize, but let’s be honest… most 60+ senior travelers have different priorities, seeking more relaxed and quiet social interactions. And inadvertently booking a room “close to the action” can be pure sleepless misery.
  4. Slow Travel
You likely desire a slower pace instead of madly hopping from one city to the next every few days. This is another plus for the senior traveler… with no job to rush back to, you can take your sweet time. Spend a few weeks or even months in one spot. See the sights at a leisurely pace instead of pushing to cram everything into the shortest time possible. Meander. Rest. Even better, there are often discounts for longer stays and you can usually find a place with a furnished kitchen. Prepare your own meals for huge cost savings over eating out all the time.

Travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education; in the elder, a part of experience.

I can help

Clearly, seniors travel differently and for different reasons. All aspects are affected — where to go, when to go, what to take and how to get there. And how to manage the details of modern everyday life while on your journey.

And that’s where I’d like to help. Sure, I love telling you about my travels. But I also love sharing my experience on the practical side of traveling… everything from how to eliminate paper mail, to getting the right phone, to minimizing luggage contents.

It all comes down to following the old “less is more” adage. Less of what you really don’t want and need adds up to more enjoyment, more freedom, more relaxation, and more travel to the places you’ve always dreamed of going.

Happy Trails!
